If your domain is blacklisted, it means that you get into the spam list and the domain’s reputation has dropped. A blacklist is a list includes blocked domains and IP addresses that can’t be accessed by users directly and servers block emails from such domain.
Our free blacklist checker shows if the URL or IP entered is listed with the DNSBL database.
When do you need a domain blacklist check?
The blacklist lookup will show is your domain or IP marked as spam:
The best way to get away from the anti-spam database is to send a request to remove your IP from the blacklist. NOTE: correct all the violations before sending the request.
The primary or let’s say the original use of domain blacklist check is to block mail. Most e-mail servers nowadays have DNSBL support either built in or a plug-in which allows a server administrator to block all emails from the domains or sites listed on a particular DNSBL. This could be an effort to minimize the amount of spam that users would be sent. More recently, DNSBLs have also been used as a part of the spam scoring system, for instance, SpamAssassin.
If you’ve made it on a spam blacklist that is also referenced in a spam scoring system, then it is likely that your spam score could be increased by some time. If that along with other scoring tests performed, results in a high score above a certain level, it could either be discarded or directed to the spam folder.
Following these few simple steps for a successful Blacklist Removal Process:
The first and foremost thing is to identify why you are there on the list. Each blacklist has its own criteria which can include policy listings, technical listings, and evidence-based listings. You can do this by visiting the blacklist website or by using a blacklist lookup tool for a specific domain name or IP address. Most of the blacklists give the reasons for general listing, but they won’t give access to the email IDs the spam was sent to.
Once you have determined a particular domain to be there on the list, now you can start your internal process of resolving that issue. Now you can also confirm that your mail server, network, and systems have properly been configured. Some of the common resolutions include fixing forward and reverse DNS records, scanning all machines on the network for viruses, STMP banners, patching operating systems, enforcing strong passwords and configuring routers more securely.
If you own a website, then it is highly recommended for you to check how your site stands on these databases. If your website has been registered as spam, but you have not been doing any such spamming activity, then it can greatly risk your reputation. We know that nobody likes to get in such a situation, having a website blacklisted. Find out which database has blocked or flagged your domain or IP and what changes you need to make to get your name off of that and restore your repute.
The domain or IP address of a website can get blacklisted as different people use it for different purposes. Some may use it for illegal or unwanted online activities. If this happens, then you can make the required changes and fix the issue using an efficient tool like ours to see which websites have flagged your website.
